We broke ground on our new distribution center on February 2nd and now, a mere two months later, it has been completed! We were able to accomplish this impressive construction feat through exhaustive pre-construction planning combined with attractive completion incentives for the contractor (lots of Yipppeee! Gear). However, there was a slight mistake on the final project due to a typo in the contract. Instead of a 30,000 square foot facility, we wound up with a 3,000,000 square foot facility (it’s amazing what a couple of misplaced zeros can do)! Not one to get worked up over mistakes, Steve Somers commented “it’s a little bigger than what we expected, but with our new partnerships, and plans for increased manufacturing capacity, we should be able to utilize it”. In the meantime, we have put in a full-size basketball court, full gym, and indoor track to utilize the space. Additionally, Marketing Director Jeff Milton always on the look out for new promotional opportunities, had a huge “Yipppeee!” painted on the roof to take advantage of the new flight patterns into Newark Airport which has directed most incoming and outgoing flights right over East Stroudsburg. Jeff comments “With the majority of our customer base flying in and out of Newark Airport multiple times over the course of a year, we determined it would be an efficient advertising expenditure to paint “Yipppeee!” on the roof. A couple of gallons of red paint from Home Depot only cost us around $37.65 – a strong investment from my perspective”.

If you walk through our warehouse late at night during Second or Third shift, you may very well hear “one, two, cha-cha-cha”, and Mambo music blaring from the far corner of the building. And if you dare to walk back there to see what is going on, you will see our owner, Steve Somers and his lovely dance instructor Jennifer, practicing for Steve’s upcoming appearance on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars! Commenting on his upcoming appearance, Steve states “As you may know, I was a pretty competitive and intense baseball player most of my life. I turned that competitiveness and intensity toward my career and company for the past 20 years, but now I am ready to do something a little more physical again. However I would like to combine my athleticism with my flair for the creative and artistic, and Competitive Dancing is the perfect outlet for me. I look forward to competing on Dancing with the Stars, and I look forward to bringing something that is truly important to me out of the closet – that is of course, my new Tuxedo”.

As you know, Carl Wolfson won the original Yipppeee! Mobile earlier this year. However due to it’s popularity as well as requests from our customers and industry colleagues, we have decided to create a new Yipppeee! Mobile for 2007 – a Yipppeee! Hummer! So be sure to come to the upcoming industry golf outings as we will have it as a Hole-In-One prize, and you could drive away with it if you shoot an Ace! And if you listen very closely as the golfers get ready to swing on the t-box, we bet you will hear them say “I want a Yipppeee! Hummer”!
